cant install Synergy SDK, it keeps saying that source SDK is not installed...

i already reinstalled sdk twice and installed synergy sdk in serveral locations.

(i use win xp)

i tried it at several locations, in c:\programs, in the steam folder, in the source sdk folder - i always got the same error message.

(there are no or install instructions or a readme for Synergy SDK, thatswhy i think it doesnt matter where u install it)

Using STEAM, install "Source SDK" and run it at least once before using Synergy SDK.
Synergy SDK automatically seeks Source SDK on your computer. As long as Source SDK is installed correctly on your steam account, you should have no problem.

Have just upgraded to Windows 7, and Synergy SDK has stopped detecting both Ep1 and Ep2 as well as no longer offering Metastasis as an option.

Anyone know what might be causing this? I rather liked Synergy SDK's ease of switching between making base HL/Ep1/Ep2 maps.

Oh, and all HL games + Synergy have been run once.

Problem solved - it was UAC getting in the way. Synergy SDK needs to be run as Administrator (this isn't really very suprising).

This tool doesn't work anymore for me ever since the october update, gives me black viewports...

You can revert to the old binaries and set it to manual update, I dont know if that would work.
