There is a problem with Steam's delivery of the new OB version as it relates to dedicated servers. The thing simply doesn't get all the HL2 stuff. At this point I suggest server admins manually extract and place the files like they did with Synergy 1.1, just in the orangebox directory instead. Piece by piece the linux dedicated is starting to cooperate.

Sweet thanks, I was looking for that list. I just dumped the entire thing and started over. I did some crazy stuff that got it to sort of work... and managed to waste over 1gb of storage. I'll get to extracting files! biggrin.gif

Just for any other linux admins out there... server.cfg has port number and maxplayer information... neither of these variables work for me. I still have to specify them with the server's launch command.

P.S. Good heavens I can't spell today, I just had to edit this post 4 times!

I'm having the same issue with downloading synergy (download only shows "Synergy download starting...". Does anybody know what is going on?

I have been following this mod since beta but never bothered to make a forum account. I have now made one to give you my two word review on synergy OB:

FUCKING EPIC

That is all.

But serisously its soooo dam fun now, all the little changes are awesome and it defiantly is much harder. Especially seeing as you can loose when everyone dies. Me and my friends just did the elevator bit with the vort and I'm seriously impressed.

P.S Scuse the language but I'm so hyped!

I always edit my server.cfg first thing so that I can put in an rcon password. Anyway, glad I could help.

Congratulations on finally releasing smile.gif

While I am sure there will be a few bugs unearthed now that the player counts are significantly higher than beta player counts, if you report them they will be fixed. If you have a server crash, firstly ensure you have set it up properly, then contact the mod authors and include the .mdmp file (it's in the same place as SRCDS program) plus steps on reproducing the crash. If you don't report it, it doesn't get fixed smile.gif

But well done, Synergy's popularity has just gone through the roof heh.

Yes, don't worry about the Linux server crashes. I'll have them fixed soon. smile.gif
Another thing you'll notice is the "say" command doesn't work; I forgot to apply a patch from the mailing list. :x

I'm getting the same problem, I've tried many combination of deleting the local cache, restarting steam, and restarting the download, but I still get the problem. I really want to play!

I can email Valve and ask whats up, but it's probably a case of the Steam servers saying "oh no, too many people!!"

Not to be a pest but any timeframe on this? Windows isn't an option for me so getting the Linux DS working will be amazing!

I dont get it.

What did this upgrade do, other than take away player models and break compatibility with all of the maps?

What am I supposed to play. I have canal escape. oldcanals. and takeover. What am I missing? I thought this was supposed to add all sorts of new stuff? no?

Everyone is talking like this mod is the second coming, so I must be missing something?


To clarify I always played synergy with a small group of friends, and we usually would do the terribly difficult (pursoup, map will change in a fiew seconds) maps with a limited number of lives. Does OB offer anything for us?
