Howdy.

I have a feeling this has been brought up before, and since my searches for answers on this subject yielded nothing... I am making this thread in the hopes someone can A. direct me to the post, or B. answer my question here.

This is my first time on this forum by the way, but not my first time on a forum.


First of all, when i try to exit Synergy, or disconnect from a server, the game freezes, and my whole system locks up. The only way to resolve the freeze is to literally reboot my whole system.

Secondly, my friends on steam can't ever join my games, and visa versa.

I have to be honest... both these issues happened w/ every person on my steam network of friends who tried synergy... I find it a little annoying that this mod is available on steam in the store, and not only doesn't work, but causes serious computer lock ups... i don't like having my system go unresponsive.

On a side note... i used synergy to play HL2 coop years ago, and it was awesome... so whatever happened since then? Did something get fixed that wasn't broken? :3 sorry if i sound irritable, I'm just a little annoyed about the freezes and lockups.

I've also noticed that lately Synergy doesn't end when I quit it, I end up having to end its hl2.exe with the task manager.

As far as your side note, they had to remove a lot of what you're probably thinking of for Synergy to be available on Steam, the things that were removed would've violated their license otherwise from my understanding.

I can't help too much on the system freeze part (I have to end hl2.exe in TaskMan like fox).
Only offers I can make are, update framework and all other features via automatic update, then restart.

If you are using the steam "Friends" tab of the server browser, that usually doesn't work. (Have to find their servers manually, or use the Connect IP:port command in console)

If you are talking about hosting a local or standalone server, you'll need to port forward the standard 27015 - 27017 UDP ports on your router.
