Looks really awesome. I'd be nice to have maps with custom water that actually looks like water.
I really hope Ep3 has dynamic water. A brush with a water texture on top, a sound filter, overlay and lower gravity applied to inside it is getting really old. It'd also be nice to actually have swimming animations.

Yeah because it's starting to get normal if you hear jesus can walk on water ^^

I'm planning on releasing the textures with Synergy, once they're more refined.
The textures are actually going to be used in my next map for Synergy.
I might also make a "water effects" tutorial, or maybe even some prefabs for the community.
There's some problems on rendering two transparent textures together, so you have to do it in a certain way.
But yeah, dynamic water would be sweet. Imo. the Source water looks worse than the one we see in HL1. It would be awesome having a mix of those two.

I hope the textures have a fallback for older version of DX. No one likes seeing completely opaque black water.

Haven't really gotten that far yet, but I'll look into how to do that- once it's in its final stages.

I think it may be able to go back to completely other textures, like if you go to DX7 you seem to get the same texture for all water which I'm assuming is the only DX7 texture.

Yeah, it's a different thing for a scrolling river texture though.
It's not perfected in any way right now, as I'm using two textures for the river (I don't know if I can merge them into one):
1. The top layer which is a refractive, scrolling texture
2. Middle layer which is a semi-transparent, scrolling texture
However, the textures were originally made for cosmetic use, so they don't really function as swimmable water.
So if you were looking to make it a swimmable river, you would need the two texture layers and a 3rd "real" water brush.
I did experiment with this, and it works fine, although it feels like a cheap hack.
